This is Freddie and him and Luke don't really care for one another but yet they just can't seem to leave each other alone. 

My dogs also make me smile...here is Gracie modeling a hexi-hat. :D

I Dyed Some Yarn!

I recently saw a tutorial on how to dye yarn with kool-aid and decided give it a try.  It was a lot easier than I thought it would be and it was a lot of fun. :)  I used the following flavors: Orange, Lemonade, Lemon lime, Strawberry kiwi, Blue berry (or it might have been called Mixed Berry), and Pink lemonade.  I was really pleased with they way my yarn turned out:

My husband said it looks like beachy colors...and I have to agree with him.  :)  Since my mom loves bright colors I'm going to knit her a market bag with the yarn so she can use it when she is tending to her garden this summer.

Sorry it's been so long since I've wrote anything...time just got away from me.  I've been knitting like crazy and in the last few days I've gotten on a toy kick.  I crocheted this cute cupcake bunny:

The pattern I used was Rachel Hoe's Lil' Bunny Cupcake.  This is the second pattern of her's I have crocheted and I have to say I really love her patterns.  I've only been crocheting for about a year now and look what I made! :) 

Then I knit a little bluebird:

How cute is that??  This is Rebecca Danger's pattern Chubby Chirps and it was super easy and I think super cute. :)  I have to say I love her patterns too and will probably be knitting some more in the future.

The bunny only took me two days to make and I think I did the bird in one day...so super easy and super quick projects.  I think I needed a break from the shawl I'm working on...I love the way it's coming out but there are sooo many stitches that I just needed an instant gratification project.  The shawl I'm working on is Mizzle by Patricia Martin and I'm knitting it using Madelinetosh in tosh merino light and the colorway is lichen and here it is:

I think it's so pretty and can't wait to get it finished and blocked.  I'm on the border now and only have 22 rows to go! 

A New Direction

It's been a long time since I've posted anything.  I've been thinking and since I don't read as much as I use to I think I'm going to take my blog in another direction.  I will continue to do a book review every now and then but I think I'm going to talk more about my knitting and review knitting related products.  So I will be giving my blog a facelift and I hope y'all will still stop and to see what's happening in my small part of the world.

Review: starflower by Anne Elisabeth Stengl

 

Book Description:

My thoughts:

I know I'm not good with words so I hope my review does starflower justice.   Anne Elisabeth Stengl has done it again...wrote an amazing book with amazing characters.  As you read you will feel as if you have stepped into the story with Eanrin and Starflower.  I've had  trouble lately  reading...nothing seems to hold my attention but I did not have that problem with this book.  It's amazing and I really can't put into words how much I did enjoy starflower.  It's not just a story but a deeper story of love...not the kind of love that is here today and gone tomorrow but real love.  If you enjoy fantasies full of adventure then please check out this book because I guarantee you won't regret it.

Hiya!

Gosh, it has been a while since I posted anything!  So what have I been doing?  Lets see..I've learned how to crochet (I made that unicorn!), I've been knitting a lot, and working.  You will probably notice that I didn't say reading.  Sadly, I have been in  the longest reading slump I've ever been in...its awful.  :(   But there is one book that I have been eagerly waiting for and it arrived in my mailbox yesterday.

Don't you just love the cover??  I actually put down my knitting and started reading and I'm loving it.  So stayed tuned cause there will be a review coming in the next week or so. :)

Review: Glamourous Illusions by Lisa T. Bergerns

My thoughts:

 

In Glamorous Illusions we meet Cora who has come home from school to spend the summer with her parents.  But when she arrives home all is not well and thus begins huge changes in Cora's life.  She is soon thrust into a life she never dreamed of having and will learn a lot about herself along the way.  Glamorous Illusions isn't a fast paced book but it does keep you turning the pages and then things really pick up towards the end...can't wait for the second book to come out.   The characters are what really make this book...they all come across as very real and you feel their pain, confusion, happiness, jealousy, etc.  You will certainly feel as if you know Cora by the end of the book and will look forward to the next book as Cora's story continues.
