Captured!

My last post was about how Leo was escaping and how we had fixed the problem. Well, the day I wrote that post when I got home from work that little sneak was out! So it was back to the drawing board. So finally we (well, actually my dad) came up with an idea. We got some wooden sticks and zip tied them to some of the left over cat fence material and cut a hole in the middle then put this contraption on the trees. Basically, it looks like an umbrella type thing around the tree. I doesn't look that great but so far (knock on wood) it's working and my little escape artist has been captured. At least until he comes up with a new plan.

My running has been sidelined for a bit. My husband's leg was bothering him so he has stopped running to let his leg heal. He suppose to start back up on Monday but we shall see how his leg is doing. I know I could run without him but even though I know that I need to exercise if nobody pushes me than I won't. Sad but true.

I finished reading, "The Measure of a Lady" in record time. Took me about four or five days which is extremely fast for me. It was a great book...loved it! Now I'm reading, "The Tale of Hilltop Farm." It is a fiction book with Beatrix Potter as the main character...guess you would call it a cozy mystery. This is the first book in the series, I read the third book in the series a few weeks ago. It was a very sweet, charming story and I'm looking forward to this one. And with that I'll leave you with one of my favorite pictures of Clyde. :) Ta-ta!

Escape artist

Friday when I got home I found my Leo outside and ready to come inside. I just figured that when my husband came home that Leo zoomed by him. Back in the spring my husband put up a cat fence so the cats could go outside but be safe at the same time. (http://www.purrfectfence.com/) All the cats are purr-fectly happy with this compromise except Leo who wants to roam the entire country. So he is always trying to zoom past you when you go inside or outside. So Friday when I got home I just figured that is what happened. So I didn't think anything else about it until Saturday morning when I went outside and see Leo. Thankfully, he comes to me and a scoop him up and take him back inside. I tell my husband to check the fence and I leave. When I return home I find my husband playing his video game but no Leo. My husband tells me that he didn't see anywhere that Leo could have gotten out and thought maybe Leo zoomed out during the night when he was letting the dogs in/out. Well, I'm not 100% convinced and decide to go look for Leo. I don't find him inside anywhere so I got outside into the cat's area and oh, there he is...ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE! So now I know he has figured out how to escape from the cat fence. I get my husband and I put Leo outside in the cat's area and we watch to see what he does. It doesn't take him long to trot off towards a tree. Then up the tree he goes and he jumps from the tree to the house which has to be about a 4-6 feet jump. I couldn't believe it. Then he jumped from the house to the shed and from the shed to the little roof covering the swing and from there down a tree. So, Saturday me and my husband had to figured out how to keep Leo from climbing up the tree. We went to Petsmart but they didn't' have anything and we tired The Tractor Supply store but they too didn't have anything so we consulted the Internet and found that you can wrap some aluminum flashing around the trees and that will prevent cats from climbing them. So far so good. When we let the cats back out they all noticed the shiny stuff on the trees and a couple of them sniffed at it but most just looked and walked away including Leo!! I think he's a little disappointed about his escape route being taken away and I'm sure he's probably trying to figure out another route. Hopefully, he won't find one though.

I just finished reading "The Tale of Cuckoo Brow Wood" and it was such a charming book. I loved it! It's the third one in a series so now I'm going to have to get book one and two. :) I don't want to give anything away but one of the reasons I found it so charming was it had talking animals in it. As you can probably guess I'm a sucker for pretty much anything with animals. Now that I've finished that book I am now reading, "A Measure of a Lady" and so far so good.

Oh, yesterday I walked for 18 minutes. I get today off and tomorrow I'm suppose to run 5 secs and walk 55 secs for ONE MILE! *gulps* I'll let ya know how that goes.

I did it!

I ran yesterday. I ran for five seconds and walked for 55 seconds for 13 minutes. My legs are a little sore today though. My husband surprised me with some new running shoes last week. Unfortunately they sent the wrong size so we had to return them but I had my new shoes for yesterday. :)

Running

About a month ago my husband decided to get up in the mornings and run. His goal is to run a marathon one day and I have all the faith in him that he will meet his goal. So how it happened that he's got me running is beyond me. I've only actually did it twice but we are suppose to go out tomorrow and walk. He's been reading everything he can on running and found an article on how to train for a marathon. You start out just running ten seconds and walking fifty seconds, you do that for ten minutes. The next day you just walk for ten minutes. Since I haven't gotten to the third day I can't really tell you what you do. All I know is that you gradually increase your time running. My husband is up to running one minute and walking a minute or something like that. I think I can handle the walking days but to be honest the running days aren't that great. I don't know if I will ever actually run in a marathon but I guess the exercise can't hurt.

Things That Go *Meow* In The Night

Trixie caused some excitement last night. It was about ten or eleven and I was watching TV while my husband snored away when I heard this *meow*. It was an odd little meow and not like any of the meows I'm use to hearing. So I sit up in bed and look around the room to see who is making this odd little meow when I see Trixie. I ask her what is wrong and she answers me with another little odd meow. So I cautiously get up and walk towards her when I notice something move which made me jump back onto the bed. I decide to turn on a lamp to try and a get a better glance at what Trixie has brought into the house. So I crawl towards the end of the bed and peer over the edge and I catch a glimpse of what looks like a snake! Okay, time to wake the husband. At first he's all confused and everything since he has been asleep for a bit but he finally wakes up enough to inspect what Trixie has brought into the house. He declares, "Oh, it's just a frog!" and proceeds to start to pick it up when it thrashes about again proving that it is not a frog. This startles my husbands and he jumps back and now declares, "That isn't a frog!" So he turns on another light and we both cautiously peer over the edge of the bed and....we still have no idea what it was. All we know is it was some kind of huge, creepy looking worm. I have never seen such a thing in my life and hope to never see one in my house again. My husband was going to let the Trixie eat it but I made him take it outside. Trixie was quite pleased with herself but I had a talk with her and asked her not to bring live critters into the house again...let's hope she listened.

Football

I don't understand why my husband loves football so much. Before we got married I didn't know much of anything about football, now I know a whole lot more than I did a year ago. My husband has tried to explain to me how the game works and it's just confusing. All I see is a bunch of men falling down on each other in a big pile. My husband will ask me if I saw this play and even though I was watching I usually don't see what he saw. Mainly because I don't know who your suppose to keep your eye on. I just don't get it. But since I love my husband I will continue to try and understand this game they call football.

Go Cowboys! :)
