The Tale of Holly How by Susan Wittig Albert

I finished reading this book last night and thought I would write a little review about it. If you would like to check it out on amazon just click here. I'm not the best when it comes to reviews because I don't really want to give too much away in case someone would like to read the book. But I'll do my best.

This is the third book I've read in the series (although this book is the second in the series) and I think this one is my favorite so far. The best word I can think of to describe this series is charming. :) The series is about Beatrix Potter as she starts a new chapter in her life in the Lake District and what happens in the little village. So even though the books are about Beatrix Potter they are actually about the whole village including the animals. :) They are lovely books and I am looking forward to reading the fourth book in this series. I'm not sure how good of a review this is but there you have it.

Lazy Day

Not much is really going on at the moment. I'm just waiting until it's time for me to go take care of the two dogs that are being boarded at the clinic and then when I get home I need to wash some clothes. I also need to clean my entire house but one thing at a time. I did decide this week that I am going to try and be a better housekeeper. The first goal I have set for myself is to not let the dishes pile up in the sink. So tomorrow after work I plan on loading up the dishwasher and washing any dishes that need to be hand washed. Once I get that down I will move on to something else and I just plan to keep on adding things until I have my own little routine. :) I'm really bad about starting stuff and not finishing it so I hope I stick with this cause my house really needs to get in order.

Oh, yesterday we got the cat's new cat tree. We had gotten them a new one in December and that thing was horrible so I emailed the company and they told me I could send it back and either exchange it or return it. I decided to exchange it for one that I had gotten before so I knew it would hold up to my crazy cats antics. Our kitties have the mega one. They love it too. It was funny because my husband put Felix in the crows nest and he thought it was pretty cozy and decided to take a nap in it. Well, here comes Trixie to check out their new toy. She pokes her head in the crows nest and sees Felix so she does what she thinks she has to do, slap at him. Doesn't bother Felix, he goes back to sleep. A few minutes later it's time for Leo to check out the new toy...he does the same thing Trixie does and once again Felix just goes back to sleep. Now here comes Clyde. He climbs to the top, sees if he can get into anything new from his new position, since he can't he decides to check out the crows nest. The crows nest is not big enough for Felix and Clyde but there is Clyde trying to get inside and with poor Felix trapped in there. It was pretty funny cause all you could see was Clyde's tail end hanging out and he kept trying to back out but he couldn't cause every time he put his back foot down all it hit was air. But he finally managed to get out and the minute he did Felix is sitting up and shaking his head. It didn't bother him too much cause he ended up going back to sleep. Bonnie came and checked out the tree a bit after her brother but she is a sweet little lady so she just poked her head into the crows nest and then left.

Here's a lovely picture of Felix. :)

Milo

I hadn't seen Milo in a few days but yesterday when I got home he was sitting under the swing. I went and sat down with him and he just loves to have his head rubbed and just sit with you. I did notice that he has gained some weight since finding me, when he first showed up you could feel his spine when you would pet his back. Poor thing. Now when you pet him you don't feel his spine, so that is good. :) He was around this morning to get some of that yummy canned cat food. Boy, he loves that stuff too. It's suppose to rain this weekend so I hope he sticks around so he can hang out on the porch to get out of the rain.

I forgot to mention what my cat Clyde did a few weeks back....

My husband and I were woke up by this noise late one night. My husband says, "Clyde was on the ceiling fan." Now my husband has weird dreams and talks in his sleep so when he utter those words my first thought was, "he's just having some weird dream." Which is why my husband then said, "I'm not dreaming...I'm awake...two plus two is four." I still thought he was dreaming. It wasn't until the next morning when I looked at the ceiling fan that I see proof that my husband wasn't dreaming...Clyde had been on the ceiling fan. *shakes head* One of the little lights was bent and you could see the dust was disturbed (and believe me there is a lot of dust to disturb too). Then a few nights ago I get woke up by this strange noise and can see a cat climbing (struggling but climbing nonetheless) up the exercise machine. I got out of bed and the cat jumps down, I pick up cat and guess who it was...Clyde.

It's Been A Long Time

Since I posted anything. I'm not sure why I haven't posted but whatever the reason I'm posting today. :) Let me see what is going on...oh, a few weeks ago I came home to discover a turkey vulture in my shed! As you can imagine I got quite a scare when I opened up the shed door (I leave it cracked because my two outside cats stay in the shed) and I see this HUGE bird move. I ran one way and the poor bird ran the other. Now I realize why Tony (cat) was acting afraid to go in the shed. So I call my husband to come home so he can get this bird out of our shed. He finally gets home and he doesn't see the bird and I know it's still in there cause I've been watching the door and sure enough it was under this table. So my husband gets a broom and coaxes the bird outside and that is when we realize the poor thing has a broken wing. :( It ends up going under the shed and stays there the night. The next day it was still there so we tried to find someone who could help the bird but didn't have any luck and when we got home the bird was gone. I felt sorry for the poor bird and I wished we could have helped it but we did try.

Besides the turkey vulture the other animal related thing that has happen to us was one day we had a stray cat breaking into our cat fence. Imagine my husbands surprise when he hears a strange cat and opens up the door that goes to the cat area and sees a strange cat sitting there. The good news is that is wasn't mean (unlike my cats who kept trying to pick a fight with him) so we had to round up our cats and put them inside and close their cat door so they couldn't get back out. Then we got some canned cat food and lured this new kitty back out of the cat fence. He woofed down the canned cat food and was wanting more, poor thing. We got him some dry cat food and made sure there was water in the bird bath (the outside kitties have turned the bird bath into their water bowl). So we go back inside and about an hour later I decide to peek outside to see if he's still on the front porch...nope don't see him. I passed by the kitchen and I hear a strange "meow" and I know he's gotten back inside the cat fence. So I get my husband to help me round up the cats and we get them inside and lock their door and just leave the gate open so the stray kitty can just move on when he gets ready. The next morning he wasn't ready cause he was still out there! So I gave him some food when I feed the outside kitties and later on that afternoon he disappeared. But he showed back up this past week and hung out at our house the entire weekend. He's such a sweetie and I decided every kitty should have a name so I named him Milo. :) I haven't seen him much this week but at least he knows he has a place he can stop by and get a good meal and some loving when he wants it or needs it.
