It's Monday which means y'all get to meet another one of my cats. :) This Monday I'm introducing Jake. I work at a wrecker service (I don't drive the trucks ;) ) and one day I came to work to find that one of the drivers found a litter of kittens in one of the cars we had impounded. They were only days old--didn't even have their eyes open yet. I'm sure y'all can guess what I did. Yep, took them to the clinic and discovered I would have to bottle feed them every few hours! Yikes! So I got all the supplies I would need and started feeding them and wiping their bottoms and burping them. I had to wake up every few hours and feed them but sadly since they didn't get their mother's milk their immune system wasn't that strong and they started to die. It was hard to look in the basket and see that one of them had passed away. :*( At first the vet didn't want to give them anything cause they were so small but when Jake was the only one left she went ahead and he got a tiny injection of some antibiotics. I had to take him to the clinic every day for a week and soon his eyes opened up and he finally got weaned (boy, that wasn't easy either!). That was ten years ago and now he's a handsome boy who still loves to sit on my shoulders. When he was little bitty I thought it was the cutest thing cause I would tap my hip and he would climb up my pants and end up perched on my shoulders. Okay, I probably should have thought about him getting bigger but I didn't. :D He is also pretty needy..he has to on me. If I'm watching TV..he's in my lap, when I'm sleeping he's on me, if I'm reading he's one me...well, you get the picture. He's also a bit weird--he can be sitting on you and then all of sudden he bolts and runs off. I have no idea why. Well, here are some pics of my Jake. :)

Awwwww how sad that his siblings died...but Jake was a trooper! Thank you for sharing this great story! I love the pic of him in the CBD box. My cat Penny has a beautiful wooden house to sleep in but wouldn't you know if she sees an empty box...there she goes...put a sweater in it and she's happy to sleep there for hours! I love your Moggy Monday posts they always brighten my day!

I'm glad you enjoy Moggy Monday. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is about boxes but almost all of my cats love to sleep in them too. Except for one who enjoys ripping them to shreds.
I also have a cat named Penny. :)
Moggy Monday was an excellent idea! I love "meeting" your kitties every week. :)
ReplyDeleteJake is a sweetie...I'm so glad he survived, but sorry about his siblings. *sniffle* You know I'm partial to yellow/orange kitties, since that's what Tigger was.
I'm already looking forward to next week!

ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that Leo will be who y'all will meet next.
YAY! I've been wanting to meet Leo...he looks like he would be the "laid-back" kitty of the bunch. :)
