The Last Christian by David Gregory Blog Tour

About This Book

In the future, it’s possible to live forever—but at what cost?

A.D. 2088.

Missionary daughter Abigail Caldwell emerges from the jungle for the first time in her thirty-four years, the sole survivor of a mysterious disease that killed her village. Abby goes to America, only to discover a nation where Christianity has completely died out. A curious message from her grandfather assigns her a surprising mission: re-introduce the Christian faith in America, no matter how insurmountable the odds.

But a larger threat looms. The world's leading artificial intelligence industrialist has perfected a technique for downloading the human brain into a silicon form. Brain transplants have begun, and with them comes the potential of eliminating physical death altogether—but at what expense?

As Abby navigates a society grown more addicted to stimulating the body than nurturing the soul, she and Creighton Daniels, a historian troubled by his father's unexpected death, become unwitting targets of powerful men who will stop at nothing to further their nefarious goals. Hanging in the balance—the spiritual future of all humanity.

In this fast-paced thriller, startling near-future science collides with thought-provoking religious themes to create a spell-binding "what-if?" novel.

The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen

The Silent Governess

From Goodreads:
Believing herself guilty of a crime, Olivia Keene flees her home, eventually stumbling upon a grand estate where an elaborate celebration is in progress. But all is not as joyous as it seems…. Lord Bradley has just learned a terrible secret, which, if exposed, will change his life forever. When he glimpses a figure on the grounds, he fears a spy or thief has overheard his devastating news. He is stunned to discover the intruder is a scrap of a woman with her throat badly injured. Fearing she will spread his secret, he gives the girl a post and confines her to his estate. As Olivia and Lord Bradley's secrets catch up with them, will their hidden pasts ruin their hope of finding love?

My Thoughts:
The Silent Governess has to be one of the best books I've read so far this year.  This book kept me turning the pages and if I had time to just sit down and read I'm sure I would have finished it sooner.  I've recently realized that when it comes to romance books I want a little more besides just romance and this book has it.  There is a touch of mystery and a lot of the characters have secrets.  I loved this book!  By the end of the book the questions are answered and I was sniffling and hated that this wonderful story was coming to an end.  So if you love Regency Romances then I highly recommend this book.

I won my copy from Lee @ Butterfly Blessings.  Thanks, Lee! :)

Garden Stroll

I know I usually have Moggy Monday on Mondays but on Saturday my mom and I went to Clark's Garden and I thought I would share some pictures with you. The close up picture of the turtle is actually from my parent's house and if you look in the right hand corner you will see my dad's dog checking out the turtle. Anyway, I hope y'all enjoy these pictures. :)

Chosen Ones (The Aedyn Chronicles)

My thoughts:
Chosen Ones kind of reminded me a bit of The Chronicles of Narnia, which is a good thing.  In Chosen Ones we meet a brother and sister who find themselves in a mysteries land (Aedyn).  While the brother is more concern with finding a way home, his sister meets a strange Monk and realizes they are in Aedyn for a reason. Chosen Ones is an enjoyable, quick read and I think kids ages 9-12 would really enjoy it.

The Prophecy by Dawn Miller

My thoughts: I loved this book! It reminded me a bit of Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness so if you enjoy Peretti's work I know you will enjoy Dawn Miller's work as well. Even though this is about teenagers I really feel no matter what your age (teenager or up) you will enjoy this. This is a story about listening to God and doing what He asks as well a story of the battle going on that we can't see...well most of us can't see. ;) This is one of those books that once you start it you will find it hard to put down.

An Honest Love by Kathleen Fuller

Book Description

Anna must find the courage to tell Lukas the truth. Will he find the courage to forgive her?

Anna was one betrayed by someone she loved deeply. In an attempt to never be hurt again, she and her mother relocated to Middlefield, Ohio. It was the ideal place for Anna's broken heart to mend. In Middlefield, Anna withdrew from risk, placing all her attention on managing the new gift shop she and her mom bought.

When Lukas introduces himself, Anna can't resist her attraction to him. Though she finds herself falling in love, she's hiding a piece of her past in fear that their future will be destroyed if she tells him the truth.

But love can't be built on lies and the past comes rushing back to Anna in an irreversible way. Now Lukas must decide how he will react to Anna's betrayal. As they cling to their belief in an honest love, they realize it's a path they must walk together even as it leads to unexpected places.

My Thoughts:

I don't like giving a book a bad review but I have to be honest so here I go: I didn't care for An Honest Love. It wasn't that it wasn't written well (because it was) or that I didn't like the characters (I did), it just wasn't my cup of tea. It moved a little slow for me. But if you like Amish romance or if this sounds interesting to you then please go here to check out the first chapter. Just because I didn't care for it doesn't mean you won't.

Happy Reading!

Turtle Update & Raccoons

For those who are interested in finding what happen with the turtle here's an update for ya. :)  When I got home from work I noticed that the tub was on the ground and the thing I had used to prop it up was no where in sight.  So I grabbed a broom and slowly lifted the tub up and found...nothing!  Well, the thing I used to prop it up was under it but no turtle.  Did a paw check of my cats and they all had their paws. ;)  So all's well that ends well. :D

The picture is of one of the many raccoons that come around my house and eat (steal) the outside cat's food.  They've gotten a little too use to me and whenever I go outside at night they will actually approach me!  I don't want them getting too close so I make loud noises and such.  If I go into the shed where one of my outside cats stays at night, whenever I open the shed door there will be three or four raccoons right outside of the door!  The only way I can get out is to throw some cat food out so they will go chow down.  But other than that they don't bother me except for the time they got into the shed and stole a small bag of cat food.  The left the empty bag up on top of the shed. :D  Life in the country is never dull. ;)

Moggy Monday

Luke
Isn't he just too cute??  This morning I was about to leave for work when I noticed the cats were staring at something so I decided to check it out and it was a HUGE snapping turtle!  It was right by the cat fence and I was afraid Luke (who was quite interested in this strange critter) was going to mess with it and if that thing got a hold of his cute little paw it wouldn't be pretty.  So I had to figure out something...I ended up putting this metal tub on top of him and then propping it up with this thing and I put the mower in front of it so hopefully he will exit the tub away from the fence and continue to leave the fence behind. Guess I will see if he's still under that tub when I get home this evening.  I'm hoping he will be long gone.
