"You examine me, Miss Eyre," said he: "do you think me handsome?"

I should, if I had deliberated, have replied to this question by something conventionally vague and polite; but the answer somehow slipped from my tongue before I was aware,"No, sir."

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

I saw the BBC version of Jane Eyre last year and I loved it. So after watching it I thought I should read the book and am currently doing just that. But as I read it a question has popped up. I was thinking what Charlotte Bronte would think if you had told her that in the year of 2011 people would still be reading her book?! And that led me to wondering what makes a classic, well a classic. So what to you think makes Jane Eyre such a timeless classic? Since I haven't finished it I'll hold off on until I do to comment but in the meantime I would love to hear ya'lls thoughts.

Lark Rise to Candleford

I recently discovered the most wonderful TV series, Lark Rise to Candleford. If you haven't seen it yet then I highly recommend you check it out. I love it! I've already watched the first season and just started the second season. Sadly, this year they filmed the fourth and last season of this lovely show.

Here's a program description from Wikipedia.com:

The series is set in the small Oxfordshire hamlet of Lark Rise and the wealthier neighbouring market town of Candleford towards the end of the 19th century. The series chronicles the daily lives of farm workers, craftsmen, and gentry, observing the characters in loving, boisterous, and competing communities of families, rivals, friends, and neighbours.

The narrative is seen through the eyes of a teenage girl, Laura Timmins (Olivia Hallinan), as she leaves Lark Rise to start a new life under the wing of her cousin, the independent and effervescent Dorcas Lane (Julia Sawalha), who is Post Mistress at the local Post Office in Candleford. Through these two characters, viewers experience the force of friendship as Laura and Dorcas see each other through the best and worst of times.

Save The Date by Jenny B Jones

Book Description:

When Alex and Lucy pick out wedding invitations, they wonder if they can be printed in vanishing ink.

Former NFL star Alex Sinclair is a man who has it all--except the votes he needs to win his bid for Congress. Despite their mutual dislike, Alex makes Lucy a proposition: pose as his fiancée in return for the money she desperately needs. Bound to a man who isn't quite what he seems, Lucy will find her heart on the line--and maybe even her life. When God asks Alex and Lucy to scrap their playbook and follow his rules, will they finally say, "I do"?

My Thoughts:

I absolutely loved this book. It wasn't just a sweet love story but it also dealt with things such as not listening to that voice that is always telling you your not good enough. Instead listen to what God is telling you. But if you think it's a preachy book you are so wrong. Jenny B. Jones does an excellent job of weaving in an important message without ever becoming preachy. This book will have you laughing, crying (sad and happy tears), and will even give you a little food for thought. Loved it! :)

Hope Has Gotten So Big!

Hope is laying in the chair that is next to my desk in these pictures. Same chair, same dog but look at how in seven months she now fills up the chair!

"Miss Pierson had to be a size double zero. What a shame Sinclair didn't' pay this woman enough to feed herself."
