Review: Glamourous Illusions by Lisa T. Bergerns

My thoughts:

In Glamorous Illusions we meet Cora who has come home from school to spend the summer with her parents.  But when she arrives home all is not well and thus begins huge changes in Cora's life.  She is soon thrust into a life she never dreamed of having and will learn a lot about herself along the way.  Glamorous Illusions isn't a fast paced book but it does keep you turning the pages and then things really pick up towards the end...can't wait for the second book to come out.   The characters are what really make this book...they all come across as very real and you feel their pain, confusion, happiness, jealousy, etc.  You will certainly feel as if you know Cora by the end of the book and will look forward to the next book as Cora's story continues.

Glamourous Illusions by Lisa T. Bergerns

SUMMARY:

It was the summer of 1913, and Cora Kensington's life on the family farm has taken a dark turn. Not only are the crops failing, so is her father's health. Cora is carrying on, helping her mother run their Montana farm until a stranger comes to call, and everything changes. Cora then learns a secret that will radically change her future: she is the illegitimate daughter of a copper king who has come to claim her.

Cora is invited to take the "Grand Tour" of Europe, a journey intended to finish a person's education, to solidify an understanding of ancient culture and contemporary refinement. As she travels from England to France with half-siblings she's never known, Cora encounters the blessings of the Kensington family name, as well as the curses. But when an unbidden love begins to form, she realizes the journey is only beginning.

Faced with the challenge of accepting her father, new family, and the identity that comes with it, Cora also struggles to accept that she is also the daughter of the one true King-a Father who is the only One who can truly heal.

Moonblood by Ane Elisabeth Stengl

From goodreads:

Desperate to regain the trust of his kingdom, Prince Lionheart reluctantly banishes his faithful servant and only friend, Rose Red. Now she is lost in the hidden realm of Arpiar, held captive by her evil goblin father, King Vahe.

Vowing to redeem himself, Lionheart plunges into the mysterious Goldstone Wood, seeking Rose Red. In strange other worlds, Lionheart must face a lyrical yet lethal tiger, a fallen unicorn, and a goblin horde on his quest to rescue the girl he betrayed.

With the Night of Moonblood fast approaching, when King Vahe seeks to wake the Dragon's sleeping children, Lionheart must discover whether or not his heart contains courage before it's too late for Rose Red...and all those he loves

My Thoughts:

This is the third book in the Tales of the Goldstone Wood series and I have to say this series just gets better and better.  Moonblood is a fast paced adventure full of twists and turns.  It's also full of wonderful characters that I really came to love and I look forward to "seeing" them in the fourth book, Starflower, this Fall.  They had me smiling at times and crying at other times.  If you enjoy adventures with fairies, dragons, goblins, princes and princesses then check out this series. :)

Happy Reading!!
